Aboca’s commitment to the Common Good

Our commitment to making a positive impact on people and the environment is embodied in our Benefit Corporation status.

In times like these, when the word ‘sustainability’ risks being trivialised, it is essential to design the future with models and actions that are truly so, since we are now more aware than ever that the individual good cannot be separated from the common good.

For more than 40 years, Aboca has been proving that a sustainable future is possible.

We believe that a business can only be successful if it can combine economic growth, social justice and respect for nature.

That is why we chose to become a Benefit Corporation, a new corporate legal status introduced in 2016 in Italy, the first country in the world after the United States.

Within our statute as a Benefit Corporation, we have included six public benefit goals, alongside the traditional goal of profit-making.

In order to adopt this model, we formalised our commitment to pursue the Common Good in our articles of incorporation, adding six aims of public benefit to the traditional one of generating profit:

The promotion of people’s health and well-being
Constant research and development into natural and scientifically advanced molecular complexes
The creation of new supply chain models based on the active involvement of our partners and the communication of our values
The promotion of respectful practices that improve the balance and diversity of environment
A concrete focus on the cultural, social and economic development of the communities in which we operate
The valorisation of people who work with us

Our Impact Report

We measure our contribution to each of these goals every year by producing an Impact Report, which helps us define our annual improvement plan.

The Biodiversity Strategy

The Biodiversity Strategy is the document that outlines all of Aboca’s actions and commitments to support and promote biodiversity. The strategy is developed from a ‘One Health’ perspective, according to which the health of people, animals and the environment are deeply interconnected.

Aboca’s strategy is based on five fundamental pillars, which guide all of the company’s decisions:

To ensure the effectiveness of its strategy, Aboca uses an advanced monitoring system which employs scientific tools to measure biodiversity at various levels. This approach enables the company to assess the impact of its practices, collect data over time, and set annual targets. The results are reported annually in the Impact Report.

Aboca’s 2025–2030 Biodiversity Strategy was developed in collaboration with the National Biodiversity Future Center, a project funded by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU initiative.
