| ABOCA MUSEUM EDITIONS, a publishing initiative to uncover the history of herbs and the culture of the territory of Sansepolcro (Tuscany)
Aboca, the leading company in the Italian market of natural products for heath and well being is also a source of important historical research on medicinal plants. This is the reason for the creation of Aboca Museum, the only museum of its kind in the world, which has the objective of recovering, divulging and preserving the history and use of medicinal herbs throughout the centuries.
For this end, Aboca has also given life to its publishing initiative: In fact the primary goal of Aboca Museum Editions is to disseminate information on botanical medicine and its historical evolution.
Among its most recently published texts, Aboca Museum Editions has introduced The Treasures of the Poor, a collection of medical recipes by Pope John XXI that dates back to the XII century: it is a journey through a series of recipes containing completely natural ingredients that were used to safeguard health, a right of all human beings, even the poorest (printed in Italian).
Another extremely important work is the anastatic edition of the Hortus Eystettensis by Basilius Besler, a faithful reproduction of the original herbarium printed in 1613 and composed of 367 imperial folio plates with 1084 color illustrations of flowering plants in their natural dimensions, all collected in the most beautiful florilegium from the early fifteenth century.
Aboca Museum is also extremely connected to its surrounding territory, the Tuscan Tiber Valley and for this reason has also published The Sacks of Luca Pacioli: the Renaissance Evolution of a Mathematical Game. This is a book (printed in Italian) of great logical and mathematic interest written by Friar Luca Pacioli, the eclectic mathematician who was born in Sansepolcro, which today is home to Aboca and Aboca Museum.
